Green lentils are super nutritious. They have about 30% protein content and they’re delicious. Here’s a really healthy green lentils recipe with some ground beef for even more sustenance. (and yes the recipe calls for Hefeweizen)
- Two cups of green lentils soaked in water for at least 24-36 hours
- Two large tomatoes
- Two onions
- Two green bell peppers
- At least one lbs of ground beef
- Salt and pepper
- Cooking oil
- Red pepper paste (not in photo)
- Some cilantro (not in photo)
First thing first drain the water you soaked lentils in, put in a deep pot with some cold water and start boiling. And then grab another large pan or a pot, heat some oil and saute the onions. And then add the ground beef.
Add the green bell peppers when almost all beef is brown and keep cooking. After the peppers have cooked for a bit add the tomatoes and some red pepper paste (i guess some tomato paste could work too).
After they’re all cooked add the whole contents of your pan into the deep pot where the lentils have been boiling and mix. Add some salt and freshly ground black pepper. Let them cook all together for another 15-20 minutes.
And you’re done. Serve with some Blue Moon and a couple slices of fresh French bread. Oh.. and some leaves of cilantro on top for looks and scent.
